Fifteen Years Sharing Ideas
.PG emerged in 2009 following an initiative by Friends of the National Museum of Archaeology Group [GAMNA], a group that regularly met at Jerónimos to discuss matters relating to the museum and issues of national importance. The aspiration to systematise and broaden these discussions across Portuguese society culminated, in November 2010, with the signing of the Founding Charter at the MNA.
Thus was born the Platforma Global, and the .PG brand was adopted shortly thereafter, with the sole objective of establishing itself as a space for ideas from which concrete solutions to national challenges would emerge. At the invitation of the MNA and its then director, Luís Raposo, .PG established its logistical headquarters at Jerónimos and organized conferences, debates, round tables, panels, workshops and interviews, among other formats.
Prominent figures from national life passed through these encounters: governors and former governors from PS and PSD, deputies from all political forces, members of the judiciary and distinguished jurists, officers from the Armed Forces and security services, provosts of the Holy Houses of Mercy and presidents of IPSS, representatives of religious communities, scientists, leaders of professional orders and associations, entrepreneurs, managers, journalists, artists and other personalities linked to the preservation of national heritage, among many other citizens.
From its founding to the present, .PG has held approximately two hundred events in various formats. Throughout this period, it developed continuous support actions for homeless people, aiming to be a useful partner to the Comunidade Vida e Paz in areas such as health and employment, as well as to other institutions similar institutions and the Lisbon City Council. This included the Mais Emprego and Sorrir não Custa programs, which have to date impacted hundreds of homeless people
From 2015 onwards, the organization abandoned the previous model, adopting an approach focused on moderating conversations between guests from national political life, economy and the third sector — a format it maintains to this day.
